god I played Seiken Densetsu on a simulator on pc back then XD the nostalgiiaaaa
I probably need to replay it to refresh my full memories again. I remembered how I was often dragged into conversations of the game back before I was really a gamer. XD
haha yeah its been so long that I can't remember much anymore either, beside the fact that I died often lmfao
I love Seiken Densetsu 3
Now we could use a good adaptation of Illusion of Gaia
Heck yeah!
I waited 20 years for this, im so happy to see it! Wanted to see it ever since I first played it, and ive replayed it so many uncounted times.
so glad i searched for mana
its bold of u to assume most ppl hv way to play the old games back then.
Legend of Mana is on the switch and steam.
RetroArch app on the PC will emulate almost all platforms and games.
I mean, even if you've got no PC, ePSXe (PS1 Emulator) is available on phone, so most people on here could realistically play this game before they watch the anime.
Edit: I realize the commenter was being kinda a shit, but my original comment does still stand, the game this is based on is hella playable even on PC or phone with an emulator, though if you didn't grow up with the game on console, you might not really be interested.
Legend of Mana PS1, if anyone is interested, the characters are there so far, and it is a great game to play imho.
Edit 2: might do a livestream of the game soon, not gonna plug, if you wanna see it then you'll see it, just got reminded and wanna play it again.
I didn't play the game, but i heard the name. The character designs are awesome and very silly XD
because the game use original races thats not in the final fantasy series like the jumi, sproutling, flowerling, forest people, dudbears etc
the first 3 mana games are more of an ff spinoff
oh man i am feeling nostalgic the combos the music so much fun
So far as anime made from older game franchises there has been 3 this year so far that I know of which aside this one you've mention the others 2 are "Shenmue The Animation" from Sega and "Ninjala" from Nintendo.
I didn't play a good amount of old generation games. But, I do heard of Legend of Mana this name before.
I played them tons as a kid. SNES for Seiken Densetsu. An emulator for Seiken Densetsu 3 which they didn't release for NA until a couple years back and honestly the old SNES graphics were kind of more enjoyable. Also played Legend of Mana for PS1 and Sword of Mana which i played on the Gameboy Nano at the time. It was essentially a smaller GBA. Also played Children of Mana which was my least liked mana game. The quest board stuff just wasn't as fun as classic mana games.
The only one I didn't play was Heroes of Mana which seeing the gameplay it's reasonable why. It didn't look like much of a mana game.
Seiken Densetsu 3 and Sword of Mana have to be my favorite of the series. Hopefully SE brings these titles forward again and we eventually see new titles again.
This one would be off the PS1 game where you placed your maps and the cactus became active anytime you left.
You're really not missing much with Heroes. It's not just that it's different, it's that it really doesn't work as a real time strategy game, mostly because the ally units are super unresponsive.
Ya that doesn't sound like an acton RPG like the other Mana games. Glad I didn't play it. lol.
Yeah, when I saw the title I was super looking forward to it because I always wanted to play Secret of Mana but never got the chance. It's a shame so many kids these days don't know about the good ol' stuff.
Kinda normal tho, expect if they have older siblings
This one is from 1997 or so. I played it on PSX for hundreds of hours. One of my most beloved RPG on that console.
I'm only aware of the one that came out on the ps1 in 1999-2000 as a direct competitor to final fantasy 7. Once I saw that tree the memories came back. I'm 27, I would have been 4-5 years old when that game came out.
dont worry im old to, born 1990, that shit was fucken fun as fuck on ps1.
i forgot about it... im too old T_T.. anyways thank you for joggling up my memory <3
and actually when he woke up the fist minute, i thought was Link.. lol
I knew it reminded me of Zelda! So it's from the same era?
This is honestly probably an adaptation of the manga which is an adaptation of the game.
I knew I remembered the name from a game. I thought it sounded so familiar... Was it a SNES game? just looked it up - came on PS1 around same time as FF 9...edit it did come on SNES lol Secret of Mana - good game! Will watch
can u blame them? probably most who said that are from the 2000 so they have no idea about this game also u have your facts a bit wrong legend of mana was released in 1999 while the first zelda game was from 1986
Yeah. Noticed that. Thanks for the correction.
I remember playing this back when I was way younger this and Zelda
I remember it and missed it since I changed my mobile phone and couldn't find the app on the phone anymore! It was Legend of Mana, want to download and play it again! So happy they decided to make an anime of this one! :')
I remember original Nintendo Zelda...that's been a long, long time...
The only old games I've played that I can remember instantly are Predetor 2 and Operation Flashpoint
NGL, the fact there's no plot synopsis, and based on a game according to its MAL page is already concerning.
Also, "let's see how well this anime adaptation goes"? Considering Shield Hero S2 director Jinbo Masato is directing this, I wouldn't expect much.
I'm with you on the first part since I've barely heard of this franchise and don't know what to expect with an anime adaptation.
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN, THAT BURN
Oh man, that should be illegal. That was so cold, I felt that.
I do. And yes Im old enough to remember when the SNES came out. and even systems before it.
Wonder if people know the original legend of mana was actually a spin off of Final Fantasy. I wonder if we'll see chocobos in this animated story. It's not actually as old as the original Zelda but It was either the very late 80s or early 90s. I never got to play it, but I did at least did have a copy of Secret of Mana for Super Nintendo.
Secret of Mana was my first RPG! My friend was a fan and we rented it from the video store and I was instantly in love.
I didnt manage to finish the game back then (I was a kid) but I remember a lot of these characters. I always thought the male MC was a girl tho and I thought the start of the game you had to pick one of 2 female MCs so I picked the long haired on instead LOL. Didnt know back then that the game was making me pick from male or female MC.
Used to play this on PS1 (eng vers). When I was learning Japanese, I searched for the JP vers of this game and played it on emulator. I heard about this game HD remastered version on steam last year. I immediately add the game on my wishlist. Yesterday, I purchased the game (50% discount untill around 20 October?). And, today they give me the anime. Omg....
I wonder if they will use female MC in this anime too. Since she appears in cover and opening.
I remember, it was one of the first games my mom an I played together, switching off every so often on the same save file while the other person watched. We'd played this and Valkyrie Profile in 1999/2000 when she'd bought the PS1, hella good memories, LoM is still one of my favorite games to play today. Almost lost my shit the second Bud and Corona were introduced, was like "omgwtf, I remember the fight against them in the game!!"
Legend of Mana and Valkyrie Profile really shaped the expectations I had from JRPGs, not sure if that was for the better lol. Great stories on both but it was the unique mechanics that really blew me away. Same with the Jade Cocoon series.
Edit: Like can we get a Jade Cocoon anime adaptation plz lmao, would love to have a full on anime of Levants canonical experience as a cocoon master.
Edit 2: TBF, this particular anime is somewhere in the timeline of Legend of Mana or slightly after, which is definitely not before the first LoZ game, since the game for this came out in 1999, since Bud and Corona are already your apprentices right off the bat.
Edit 3: alright, so imma wrap this up quick, LoZ debuted in 1986, The mana series debuted in 1989, so, wrong, but it doesn't detract from the beauty of the mana series. Just, do 5 mins of research next time please. Thanks.
I am kinda an asshole, and ND, my bad if anyone finds this malicious in any way. Was just really excited to talk about some of my favorite games (and now anime) and probably got outta hand for a bit, my bad.
I definitely remember this game.
I love the mana series but Bruh, no need to be toxic to other fandom just because they said it has the vibes of a game they like or aware of, your just alienating newcomers, which the Mana series actually needs more right now.
game adaptatnion huh? let's give it 3 eps
What a shame that people don't remember the Legend of Mana game here (with the exception of a few people who are as old as I am probably...). Clowns even said Genshin when it's way older than Genshin and Breath of the Wild. (In fact... It is as old as the original Zelda, which probably people "forgot" about also...) smh! Well let's see how this anime adaptation goes. Kinda excited to see another OG game getting adaptations or reboot animes.
